York

York’s rich history begins around 71 AD with the Romans creating the basis of the city we all love today. It has of course changed a lot in 2000 years becoming a Viking settlement in 866 before being captured by William the Conquerer in 1068 becoming a large and prosperous city in his kingdom. Around this time York castle was founded and the Minster as we know it began construction. Despite centuries of turmoil, including rebellions and wars, much of the history has survived and is celebrated making York a huge attraction for tourists. Places such as the Minster, Clifford’s tower, The Shambles, many museums and the city walls are just a few of the incredible attractions York has to offer
