This historic market town, founded around 700AD, has provided a significant place for pilgrimage and a large cotton trading industry. Based on the Anglo-Saxton foundations and the tomb of John of Beverley, the town became an important important place for trade and attracted wealth to the area. The town is now best known for Beverley Racecourse, North Bar, Beverley Minister, it's Markets and holding various festivals.
